Thanks for planning to share your Category:Macintosh client expertise. As you can see by that link, I think it deserves it's own category. :) -- Austicke 13:23, 28 Sep 2005 (PDT)
[edit] RE: Building on other platforms than Windows
It might depend on the Linux distribution, and the version of Wine that the distro runs, if any. But I am pretty sure I've gotten the toolset to run under Linux using Wine. I'll research it when I have time and, as you create your cross-platform building category, I'll post what I learn. Klingon Mage 08:42, 30 Sep 2005 (PDT)
Oh, BTW: Shouldn't the Building on the Mac (and possibly Linux) live under Builder How-To? Or at the very least let's create a pointer to it? Just a thought. Klingon Mage 08:44, 30 Sep 2005 (PDT)
Yeah, I was thinking I'd a link to the Building from the Mac client category, and put Mac (and Linux) building stuff in the Building category. I don't actually have a lot (well, any, actually) of experience building with Linux, and only a smidgen on the Mac, so any help is greatly appreciated!
The Mac is harder because we don't have WINE (may change once Macs with Intel chips start showing up), and VPC and its ilk just won't cut it. So we have basically no choice but third-party tools, none of which offer complete toolset capabilities (yet). This is also why the Building stuff is a lower priority for me right now than the client stuff, so it'll likely be a while before I add Building stuff. --Llandru 17:20, 30 Sep 2005 (PDT)
