Subrace

From NWNWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The standard D&D character races are divided into subraces to showcase slight differences in appearance, outlook, and adaptation. Other than a few minor differences, members of a subrace resemble the race they are from.

In Neverwinter Nights, a subrace is selected by entering the required name into the space provided during character creation. Subraces must be explicitly supported by a module or persistent world for it to make a difference (i.e. if the module does not have the support for Drow built in, then entering this into the subrace field will do nothing).

[edit] Notes

  • Accuracy in spelling the name of the subrace to be used is important. "Drow Elf" is not the same as "Drow" which is different again from "Elf, Drow". The wording must match exactly what the module requires for the subrace to work.
  • In the 1.31 patch a scripting command was introduced SetSubRace which allowed modules to set this field for you. This eliminated many of the problems associated with configuring this property.
