Blackguard

Description: (PRESTIGE CLASS) A blackguard epitomizes evil. They are nothing short of a mortal fiend, a black knight with the foulest sort of reputation. Many refer to blackguards as anti-paladins due to their completely evil nature. A blackguard is an evil villain of the first order, equivalent in power to the righteous paladin, but devoted to the powers of darkness.

Hit die: d10

Proficiencies: all simple and martial weapons, all types of armor and shields

Skill points: 2 + int modifier

Skills: concentration, craft armor, craft trap, craft weapon, discipline, heal, intimidate, lore, parry, persuade, ride, taunt

Selectable class feats: ambidexterity, divine might, divine shield, two-weapon fighting, weapon proficiency (exotic)

Primary saving throw(s): fortitude

Base attack bonus: +1/level

To qualify as a blackguard, a character must fulfill all of the following criteria:

Alignment: any evil

Base attack bonus: +6

Skills: hide 5 ranks

Feats: cleave

Note: Getting this feat requires either a strength of at least 13 or one level of monk.

[edit] Tip: becoming a blackguard

  • Any melee class, or any class that focuses on charisma, can make a successful blackguard.
  • The rogue, bard, monk and ranger classes have hide as a class skill, which is necessary to become a blackguard.
  • Above all is required the will to serve the forces of darkness.
Epic blackguard

The epic blackguard is a twisted reflection of the epic paladin, the commander of legions of undead, the unholy lieutenant of evil gods, and a foul source of fear and mortal danger.

Hit die: d10

Skill points: 2 + int modifier

Bonus feats: The epic blackguard gains a bonus feat every three levels. In other words, at levels 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, and 28.

Epic bonus feats: armor skin, devastating critical, epic toughness, epic fiendish servant, epic prowess, epic reputation, epic weapon focus, great smiting, improved combat casting, improved sneak attack, overwhelming critical, perfect health, planar turning

Sneak attack: increases by +1d6 every three levels after 10th.

Summon fiend: For every five blackguard levels above 10th, the summoned fiend gains +2 bonus hit dice, its natural armor increases by +2, and its strength and intelligence each increase by +1.

Inflict wounds: The DC calculation for both inflict wound feats follows: 10 + blackguard level + Constitution Modifier.
